Welcome to 100 Hispanic Women!

Mission

To inspire Latinas to maximize their strengths and potential, in order to become equal partners in an empowered world of equal opportunity with equal justice, recognition, respect and dignity.

Message from the President:

"As the president and founder of 100 Hispanic Women Inc., it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 100 Hispanic Women Inc. website. 100 Hispanic Women is committed to serving Latinas throughout New York City and surrounding areas. Our mission is to foster educational enrichment and create opportunity for women, while guiding them towards personal and professional advancement.

In 1996, when I founded 100 Hispanic Women, I envisioned a non profit organization devoted to guiding Latinas towards excellence in leadership. Today I can proudly announce that thanks to the dedication from our loyal members, sponsors, and friends, we are achieving our mission."
- Shirley Rodriguez-Remeneski

About 100 Hispanic Women:

As documented by the United States Census Bureau, the population of Hispanics has surpassed 44.3 million, and is projected to reach 102.6 million by the year 2050. However, the educational growth of Hispanic women remains a great concern and something that 100 Hispanic Women strives to improve. In collaboration with the City University of New York, we have established educational programs such as the Young Latinas Leadership Institute (YLLI)(click link to read more), and the 100 Hispanic Women Internship Program (100HWI)(click link to read more), a scholarship fund and a paid internship for college students in good standing and committed to public service.

Our most recent accomplishment, The Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls (BGLIG)(click link to read more) established in 2008, is a dual language charter school devoted to enhancing artistic and cultural development.

In addition to these programs, we hold several workshops and events throughout the year that offer women of all backgrounds, opportunities for growth and development. Our most distinguished event, the Annual Mind, Body and Spirit Conference (MBS), offers an all day symposium where various topics are addressed by physicians, nutritional experts, mental health professionals and many other health experts. In addition, yoga classes, Zumba dancing, massages and makeovers were also offered to provide the attendees with easy to do activities to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The professional and educational growth opportunities for Latinas in this country are tremendous. As part of our mission, we will continue to examine the many challenges and opportunities ahead of us, while reaching out and building bridges with members of our community.

We are fueled by our vision to inspire and challenge Latinas and women of all backgrounds, to maximize their strengths and their potential, while becoming equal partners in an empowered world of equal opportunity with equal justice, recognition, respect and dignity.

100HW Graduate Institute (100HWGI)*

In listening to the needs of many of our YLLI scholars who have gone on to pursue graduate degrees, we are currently working in a very ambitious program with CUNY for recent graduates of CUNY. The mission of this scholarship program will be to assist women who wish to further their education by awarding partial scholarships for two year programs. The criteria will require full-time enrollment, a G.P.A of 3.0 or higher and attendance to a minimum of two educational workshops per year. The 100HW Graduate Institute is a program that we hope to have initiated by 2011.
